I am confused about
the hundreds of choices for weight loss pills?
What types of products can help me?
How did Best-Buy-Supplements.com select the best products?
What are the best weight loss pills?
What did consumers have to say about many of the products?
Were there any clinical trials done for these products?
Are there any other weight loss pills worth mentioning?
Save yourself time, money and pure aggravation
by reading our methodology for reviewing all of the best and worst weight
loss supplements on the market in 2008.
We know that you are probably spinning
your wheels a million times a minute when it comes
selecting an effective diet pill in order to assist with your weight loss
efforts. The fact is that
whether you are using a prescription diet pill, an all natural diet supplement,
fat burner or any
other type of weight loss pill, you cant bank on many of them to
magically solve your weight loss problem. We imagine that you are looking
to attain the most lean and fat free body youve ever had. Unfortunately,
the sad answer is that it has never been more difficult for you to achieve
your goal. You already know about the sensationalized fitness and health
industry and you probably know that the obesity epidemic in America is
out of control, and people are still unable to lose weight in spite of
all their diet programs. Largely due in part because they are consistently
pointed in the wrong direction !
There are hundreds of diet pills available.
For the most part you can buy a diet pill online , a
prescription diet pill as well as a diet supplement . This will no doubt
compound the difficulty of
your search for the best diet pill. Here in this weight loss pill and
supplement review well cover non prescription diet pills, commonly
referred to weight loss supplements, fat burners, or herbal diet supplements.
Youve probably cut through a
lot of the sensational media clutter when looking for the best weight
loss pill . Most products are over hyped and cannot substantiate many
of the weight loss claims. You should look for backup literature on scientific
claims many products make on
television or any diet pill online . A quality, expert and independent
diet pill review is always a good guideline.
Ads for billions of dollars of diet
products and services sold each year often include false,
misleading and exaggerated claims that promise rapid, effortless weight
loss and unachievable goals. Ultimately, the companies' bottom line is
a financial one - and they're rather hoping this bottom does look big
!

The most effective weight loss diet supplements are the ones which combine
superior ingredients with appropriate quantities. Lets face it,
take for example a product which claims to contain Hoodia Gordonii , the
ingredient which has been widely publicized in the media; firstly, does
the product really contain pure Hoodia , or does it contain an extract
of Hoodia and how much Hoodia Gordonii does it contain? Is it an effective
quantity?
Cut through the clutter and get into
the ingredients. Many weight loss supplements and fat
burners contain low grade ingredients or contain ingredients that may
help you but have
insufficient quantities.
We strongly feel that the best diet
pill will control appetite and cravings, increase metabolic rate through
thermogenesis, stimulate thyroid activity in order to reduce fat cell
size and quantity, and finally, digest well with users. In other words,
doesnt give you the jitters or shakes and overly attack your central
nervous system, that many of the over-caffeinated weight loss
supplements deliver. You are much safer by understanding that weight loss
has a lot to do with your personal habits, like eating. It has a lot to
do with hormones and insulin levels. High insulin levels, or insulin resistance,
prevent you from reducing the size of fat cells and eliminating them completely.
So, which diet pill is right for you ?
Weight loss supplements and fat burners have become very popular over
the past several
years. We applied the above theory to a more scientific approach and sorted
through the good and bad products, to give you results of the above average,
mediocre, and low grade
weight loss supplements and fat burners. You can make an informed choice
based on a
combination of feed back we have received from people that shared their
experiences along with our informed analysis. We include the typical results;
and what to expect from each of the diet pills. So if your looking to
lose some weight with a weight loss pill , read our reports before you
buy anything. You will also notice something different, we let our users
review the products, Best-Buy-Supplements maintains an unbiased ratings
approach and independent of any one product.

Our analysis of weight loss pills started by examining a series of comprehensive
and
independent reviews of the scientific evidence on the effectiveness and
safety of supplements in specific classes.
These reviews were conducted by teams
of health experts to evaluate the comparative
effectiveness and safety of weight loss supplements.
The research team has no financial
interest in any pharmaceutical company or product. A
member of the research team, Dr. Hal Rosenthal, served as consultant to
Best-Buy-
Supplements. His role was to explain the medical evidence from the BBS
reports that related to criteria for effectiveness and safety.
A systematic review uses rigorous,
unbiased methods to examine the similarities and
differences of results across many individual research studies. This approach
to reviewing the evidence increases the reliability of the results.
Next, we obtained supplement prices
from a healthcare information company that tracks the
sales of weight loss supplements in the U.S. All the prices are national
averages (for consumers
that paid cash) at nutrition stores nationwide during the last month before
our analysis was done. Prices for the exact same supplement can vary quite
widely, even within a single city or town. The prices used in this report
reflect the average cash price paid for a months supply of each
supplement, for specific doses, at nutrition stores nationwide during
the last month before our analysis was done.
A proprietary algorithm was derived
based on prices and relative to effective ingredients included in the
supplements. The net results yielded an indexed value which indicated
the consumer value price per day for each of the supplements studied.
The complete study indexed over 300 weight loss supplements.
Best-Buy-Supplements Consumer Report
final results are selected based on a weight loss pills effectiveness,
safety, track record over time and price. The supplement (and dose) has
to:
- Be in the top tier of effectiveness
among supplements in its class.
- Have a safety record equal to or
better than other supplements in the class.
- Have an average CVC (Consumer Value
Cost per Day) for a 30-day supply that is
substantially lower than the most costly supplement meeting the first
two criteria.
A Best Buy Supplement may not be the least expensive supplement in its
category. Also, more than one Best Buy Supplement can be chosen in a class
if it is equally as effective and its price is relatively close to that
of other Best Buy Supplements.
The Best Buy Supplements picks may
change over time as new scientific evidence emerges
and/or as supplement prices change. Also, new supplement choices may become
available in a given category.
Best Buy Supplements staff will monitor
prices monthly. It will rely primarily on ongoing
monitoring of supplement effectiveness research and safety studies for
any updates.

What is the best proven weight loss pill? Bottom line - what works best
for you! We would
suggest doing thorough research on certain products, consulting with a
dietician, nutritionist, or doctor, and then deciding what would be best
for you.
We can only pour through the research,
review over 300 weight loss pills, consolidate it for you, and then give
you the results and feedback from typical users. Remember, as with any
weight loss program, a sensible diet and regular fitness is the key to
enhance the effects of any weight loss pill. The rankings youll
see below represent the most effective and safest weight loss pills on
the market. They are all prescription free and offer consumers the best
value based on our CVC algorithm. (Consumer Value Cost per Day)
If you dont see a product listed

1. Accomplix
- Accomplix is the best combination of all components of a weight
loss pill. It
acts as an appetite suppressant while targeting the craving center of your
mind and body. It
suppresses the cravings and helps you eat less. It also contains ingredients
to manage healthy insulin levels, which we believe is one of the most important
aspects of this product. The hormonal approach to weight loss supports the
proven scientific evidence in reducing fat.
Additionally, Accomplix spares you the discomfort by not attacking
your central nervous
system by over caffeinating their product while still increasing your metabolism.
2. Lipo
6 - The product has a new formulation from its old one. Basically,
the ephedra was
removed from the complex. It seems that there are two slightly different
formulations that are
available online. Each one claims to attack all six fat receptor cells.
In an all-natural formulation it is extremely difficult to target a specific
fat receptor cell down to the cellular level - either Lipo 6 affects the
cells or it doesn't. More complicated pharmaceutical products can better
target individual receptor cells. It is highly stimulating with caffeine,
synepherine and guggulsterones. Lipo 6 is a fairly effective product.
Although, a major concern is the yohimbe ingredient. "At high doses,
yohimbine is a monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitor. MAO inhibitors can cause
serious adverse effects when taken concomitantly with tyramine-containing
foods (e.g., liver, cheeses, red wine) or with over-the-counter (OTC)
products containing phenylpropanolamine, such as nasal decongestants and
diet aids. Individuals taking yohimbe should be warned to rigorously avoid
these foods and OTC products because of the increased likelihood of adverse
effects." Yohimbe should also be avoided by individuals with hypotension
(low blood pressure), diabetes, and heart, liver or kidney disease. Symptoms
of overdosage include weakness and nervous stimulation followed by paralysis,
fatigue, stomach disorders, and ultimately death.
3. H57
Hoodia - The key ingredient in H57 Hoodia, hoodia Gordonii,
is one of the most hyped diet supplements on the web. Hoodia Gordonii
is a succulent (a cactus of the aloe family) found in the Kalahari desert
of South Africa. Scientists isolated the molecule responsible for Hoodia's
appetite suppressing characteristics. This molecule, called P57, is now
under further research and development. At one time P57 was licensed to
U.S. pharmaceutical giant Pfizer for development. Pfizer discontinued
any progress on Hoodia, and discontinued clinical
development of P57 in 2003. One of the biggest problems with the Hoodia
products currently
available is that most contain very little, if any, of the active ingredient
needed to suppress hunger. Real Hoodia is very difficult to come by. Additionally,
Hoodia has only demonstrated effectiveness in fresh, raw pieces of the
plant. H57 Hoodia did fare well in some studies and at the current price
did post a respectable CVC score.
4.
Xenadrine EFX - A very promsing formulation that conains green
tea and some chocolate based compounds. This version of Xenadrine does
not attack the central nervous system the way other products do. Tyrosine
is an active thyroid stimulating ingredient that helps in your weight
loss efforts. Some mixed results were reported, but overall it scored
relatively high compared to the test group.
5. TrimSpa
x32 - Before Anna Nicole Smith became the Trimspa spokesperson,
Trimspa
was just another diet pill. The original Trimspa formula contained ephedra,
but Trimspa was
reformulated into an ephedra-free version. Trimspa can now be found in
almost every drugstore across the country. Ms. Smith took 6 pills a day,
which is the full recommended daily dose of Trimspa. Anna Nicole also
told the press that she took a "colon cleanser" laxative that
keep her "on the pot all the time" and modified her diet, basically
admitting that it wasn't just the Trimspa diet pills that made her lose
weight.
- Trimspa is expensive. If you take
the recommended dose of 6 pills a day, one bottle will
last just 10 days. The suggested retail price of a bottle of Trimspa
is $39.95, which adds
up to $120 per month.
- Trimspa contains too much chromium.
- Trimspa can make people have anxiety
and insomnia.
- The arthritis supplement glucosamine
in Trimspa? Trimspa says that glucosamine
prolongs the amount of time blood sugar stays within the bloodstream
after eating. So let
me get this straight - glucosamine can increase blood sugar levels and
worsen glucose
tolerance and this is good for weight loss? I don't think so.
- Trimspa may trigger migraines.
The cocoa extract in Trimspa contains tyramine, which
can trigger migraines in susceptible people.
- Trimspa shouldn't be taken with
MAOI antidepressant drugs.
What's good about Trimspa?
- Trimspa contains Hoodia gordonii.
- Trimspa contains glucomannan, a
water-soluble dietary fiber that is derived from konjac
root (Amorphophallus konjac) and expands in the stomach to reduce appetite
by
creating a feeling of fullness.

6. Hydroxycut
- Hydroxycut is a thermogenic based weight loss supplement
that has proven effective for many users. It contains guarana extract(caffeine),
green tea extract, willow bark extract (aspirin), and several other ingredients.
The combination of these ingredients makes Hydroxycut an effective weight
loss supplement. Muscletech's Hydroxycut has been around for quite a while
now, and many, many people has had excellent weight loss results, although
there have been quite a few who have reported extended side effects. This
is due to the highly stimulated formulation.
7. SlimQuick
- It scored slightly above mediocre in tests. Although, there
is very little clinical
data to validate any of the product claims. The product is very hyped
in the marketing sense.
There is actually very little active ingredient in most of the ingredient
complexes. While it has
received some positive feedback, we suggest not to expect miracles from
it. Several of the
complexes do contain ingredients focused on the specific needs of women:
Vitamin & mineral
blend, Nutratherm Thermogenic Complex, Estrogen Hormone Blancing Complex,
Cortifem,
Aquaplex Water Removal Complex, Xtend Absorption Complex.
8. Leptoprin-SF
- Leptoprin touts its weight loss supplement as "Weight
Control Compound for the Significantly Overweight". Leptoprin has
in large been made popular via slick and massive advertising campaign
on TV and in print with incredible sounding optimistic claims. Marketing
and manufacturers went so far to claim that Leptoprin-SF is "much
too powerful for the casual dieter" and that it is the first weight
control compound designed to mitigate the profound effect that variations
in the human genetic code have on the storage, use, & disposition
of body fat. Clearly, where there are signs of claims that are seemingly
too good to be true a red flag should be raised. That is the case. It
performed no better than a fair amount of products listed in the study
and the $153 price is also way beyond belief. It does contain some proven
ingredients; L-tyrosine and Garcinia cambogia (HCA 125 mg)
9. Zantrex
3 - This product's massive caffeine content means you will
experience more
"nervous" energy and jitters, a suppressed appetite, and an
increased metabolic rate. Of
course, most of the caffeine in Zantrex 3 is derived from natural sources
-- yerba mate, green
tea, guarana, cocoa and kola nut, so you're getting benefits beyond the
caffeine content these
herbals are standardized for. Zantrex 3 manufacturers designed a 45 day
: 47 subject clinical
study where by the average weight loss was 11.2 pounds .
10. Stacker
2 - Stacker 2 is made by NVE Pharmaceuticals. It is a product
that guarantees
you'll feel the effects in just 45 minutes. The company claims that one
capsule can end food
cravings, build muscle, burn fat and increase your energy level by boosting
your metabolism.
NVE Pharmaceuticals maintains that they share the belief of professional
bodybuilders that a
combination of the ingredients in Stacker 2 could cause the body to burn
fat faster and more
effectively. Again, users did report heavy stimulant effects. Some did
produce decent weight
loss. The CVC index score kept it in our top ten.

I just finished my second bottle of Xenadrine EFX and haven't lost one
pound. I watch what I eat and exercise 4 times a week, but still no results.
I have 30 pounds to lose and this product isn't helping me any.
Michael

I have been taking Accomplix for three days now. I have been taking 2
capsules in the
morning, 2 at lunch (but not eating), and two more once I am home from
work. I have not felt
shaky since taking this product. I have lost 11 pounds, I exercise daily
which includes swimming and moderate weight lifting. It has given me a
lot more energy.
Carrie
Siver Spring, MD
Working in the health field, I was a little leery about trying Accomplix.
I have only been using it for a few days but I am already experiencing
a reduction in my stress level and I feel more energetic and alert. When
under stress it is harder to lose those extra pounds so I truly believe
that this product is very effective. I'll let you know if I lose any weight.
Michelle

I was on Hydroxycut for 6 months - $ out the door! - I read some of the
reviews and saw the
comparison to Accomplix. Thank goodness. About 2 months later and eighteen
pounds lighter - I feel like a new woman. My poolside bikini is back!
Fadi

Actually I am have been taking Leptoprin for 1 month. Alot of people told
me, watch out as it could have a lot of side effects. I did not listen
to them and I wish I did. I feel I will never be at the right weight.
I was 155 lbs. now I am 158 lbs. In total, I think Leptoprin is a scam.
Janice

Accomplix has delivered upon your review. I lost the weight I wanted plus
I felt great doing it.
Every day I felt energized and able to sleep better. Taking care of a
family of seven is a lot of work, along with maintaining a career. I would
recommend the product to anyone. I tried Lipo 6 a couple of years ago...nothing
happened.

A 200-subject, double-blind, placebo-controlled,
5 arm clinical trial of our top rated weight loss
supplements was performed. In the study more than 50% of obese patients
in the Accomplix
treatment group experienced 10% or more total body weight loss during
the 12-week study period. Mean weight loss in the Accomplix group was
20.1 lbs., compared to 4.8 lbs in the placebo group (p<0.0001) and
10.2 lbs average from the balance of the test group representing other
products in our top ratings. Importantly, the rate of weight loss for
patients in the Accomplix group had not plateaued by the end of the study.
Accomplix was well-tolerated with a study completion rate of 92% versus
a completion rate of 62% for the placebo group and 85% for the balance
of the test groups.
The study was a double-blind, randomized,
placebo-controlled study comparing the top weight loss supplements to
placebo. Primary and secondary efficacy measurements in the study all
showed that Accomplix was significantly better than placebo and better
than all other active agents in all control groups.
This trial involved 200 subjects,
159 women and 41 men with an average age of 40 and a mean body mass index
(BMI) of 38. (A BMI of >30.0 is classified as obese per guidelines
from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services). Each subject in
the study received daily doses, consisting of Accomplix, placebo, or one
of the other top rated brands separately. Subjects were asked to reduce
caloric intake by 500 calories per day.
